To enter the competition, you need to make use of one of 1st Contact’s services during the qualifying period (15 July – 15 January 2012).

Additional entries can be earned by using additional 1st Contact services or by referring a friend to use our services. For every referred friend that goes on to be a 1st Contact client, you’ll earn another entry. (You’ll also earn the usual referral fee for that service.)

• Personal Information: Information submitted by entrants is subject to the 1^st Contact Privacy Policy.
• By submitting personal details and contact information, prospective entrants grant permission for 1^st Contact (and its partners) to make direct contact via email, telephone, mail or SMS.
• Incorrect information will automatically disqualify the entrant.
• Prize: The winner of the 1^st Contact Win a Flight Competition will receive one economy-class airline ticket to a single-destination of their choice.
• The prize is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
• 1^st Contact cannot take any responsibility for lost entry forms or any damage, losses or injuries related to the competition or prize.

Just added to the monstrous list of must-see artists are Hercules and Love Affair, Howard Marks, John Grant, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Dan le Sac, Broken Records, Egyptian Hip Hop and more than 30 other new names.

Experimental disco outfit, Hercules and Love Affair, are set to top the bill on the Twisted Licks Stage on Saturday night, joining Main Stage headliners Spiritualized and Battles in complementing this year’s Gods & Monsters theme. Elsewhere, Howard Marks is headlining the Under Covers Literary Lounge which includes, along with readings and comedy, a Literary Death Match contest and the inaugural ‘Standon Calling’s Bad Sex Awards’.

Joining the musical mix are John Grant and his musical tales of redemption; Chicago’s nine-piece Hypnotic Brass Ensemble showcasing their high-energy, brass-fuelled, hip-hop funk fusion; Dan Le Sac on DJ duties and Scottish six-piece indie-folksters Broken Records. The likes of Cut A Shine, The Travelling Band and The Moulettes, meanwhile, will provide the Magpie’s Nest Stage with a decidedly uptempo folky flavour.

Standon Calling festival is known for much more than its inspiring musical line-up and promises more themed entertainment than ever before. Heavenly (or heathenly) offerings include a Garden of Healing chill-out area with massages and more; a Monster Safari where the cabin crew will serve up improvised comedy and free shots of tequila; and a Hellhound Show (think dog show, but hosted by Lucifer).

There’s a Where the Wild Things Are play area for kids and a Zombie Marketplace full of shops and stalls. Pagan Pilates is on offer to stretch out over-danced limbs, while the Goddess Grooming Parlour can restore festival-frazzled guests to their full glory. Finally, alongside an excellent range of eateries, East London’s Rebel Dining Society is offering festival-goers the chance to dine like deities with a Feast of the Gods where people can enjoy a gourmet banquet of biblical proportions!

“I’m really excited about all the new entertainment we have lined up this year,” says Festival Director Graham Macvoy.

“We’ve never had so many new areas before and moving around the site is going to be a real adventure. One moment you can have a massage, the next you can enter a space hopper race. Besides the three main stages and on-site nightclub we’ve also got a rolling stage travelling around the site offering entertainment.”

This year’s festival is taking place over the weekend of August 12-14 in Standon, Hertfordshire, just 40 minutes away from London. The UK’s only festival with a swimming pool, Standon Calling is a three-day party with musical icons, breakthrough acts, themed fancy dress, an on-site nightclub and all-night bars.

My best concert experience would be going to see Party in the Park. I must have been screaming so loudly for Gareth Gates because I could see him looking my way. I was quite near the front too, as i’d gotten there hours before. Suddenly I felt really hot and I just fainted in the middle of the crowds. It was so emberassing and my mum rushed me in to the first aid tent. I missed the rest of the show!
